Nigeria booked a place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 with a deserved 2–0 victory over Algeria on Saturday in Marrakesh.
After dominating the first half without reward, the Super Eagles struck decisively after the break. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring early in the second half with a powerful header, marking his 50th appearance for Nigeria with his fourth goal of the tournament.
The striker then turned provider, squaring for Akor Adams to double the lead after a fine move initiated by Alex Iwobi.

Algeria, surprisingly flat throughout, struggled to cope with Nigeria’s intensity, with star man Riyad Mahrez largely anonymous before being substituted.
Nigeria could have added to their tally, with Adams hitting the post, but comfortably saw out the contest.
The win sets up a mouth-watering semi-final clash with host nation Morocco as Nigeria move one step closer to a first AFCON title since 2013.
