Debutant Yunus Sentamu was on target twice as the defending champions Vipers SC pummeled MYDA 7-0 in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
In a rather more comfortable match for the hosts, Sentamu got his first of the game in the 10th minute when he pounced onto a loose ball off Cesar Manzoki’s header at the back post to break the deadlock with a clinical strike.
Sentamu then missed two glorious chances to double the scoreline when he wasted Allan Kayiwa’s square in the 15th minutes before MYDA goalie Osikol came off the line to deny the January signing from getting his second two minutes later.
The former FK Tirana striker finally got his second of the game when he brilliantly slid onto a Disan Galiwango low driven cross that put it past Osikol in MYDA goal to double the scoreline.
Manzoki, another new signing got off the mark with his name on the scoresheet when he met Allan Kayiwa’s cross from the right to nod it into the back of the net for Vipers third of the match.
Before the game could go into the halftime break, from some wonderful piece of interplay with Manzoki, Paul Mucurezi brilliantly rounded off Osikol to place the ball into the an empty net for Vipers’ fourth.
In the second half, in a bid to limit the damage inflicted on them by the venoms, MYDA head coach Abdul Musafiri introduced on Eric Mutebi and Mafabi Isma for Mark Baasi and Moses Batali respectively
But, Vipers still got it’s sixth of the game in the 58th minutes when Mucureezi completed his brace from close range, tapping in from a well calculated Manzoki cross who had paced past Fred Okot.
MYDA’s Norman Ogiki had a chance to pull a goal back in the 70th minute but the experienced forward fáiled to get the ball past Denis Kiggundu in Vipers goal.
Disan Galiwango got Vipers sixth of the game in the 84th minute after he received the ball from a cornerkick, dribbled past one defender and struck into the back of net. Subtitute Ibrahim Orit added the seventh in the 87th minute.
Today’s win means Vipers go third place on the SUPL log on 10 points garnered in four games while MYDA get a place below in 14th.
