Malaba Youth Development Association Football Club( MYDA FC) will join already demoted Kitara FC in the FUFA Big league next season.
This is after the Flying Eagles were relegated from the StarTimes Uganda Premier league after a 6-1 loss at home to BUL FC on Tuesday evening.
MYDA had to win at King George IV Memorial Stadium, Tororo on Tuesday to maintain their slim hope of the beating the drop but they were comfortably seen off by two goals from BUL’s Joseph Ssemujju and a goal each from Simon Peter Oketch, Musa Esenu, Ibrahim Mugulusi and Deogracious Ojok.
Ssemujju gave the visitors the lead after 22 minutes with a sublime effort into the bottom corner before Oketch doubled the scoreline in the 39th minute.
Three minutes later, Ssemujju completed his brace with a lethal finish but at the stroke of halftime, Mpata Rashid pulled a goal back for MYDA.
The game went into the break with the Jinja based side holding a commanding 3-1 lead over the hosts.
Seven minutes into the closing half, MYDA’s miserable afternoon continue when they conceded a fourth goal after Musa Esenu also got onto the score sheet with a routine strike into the back of the net.
Substitute Ibrahim Mugulusi, who came on for Ssemujju also got on the score sheet in the 74th minutes before Deogracious Ojok rounded off the scoring for BUL from the spot, leaving Elisha Madanda’s men with too big a mountain to climb as their fate was eventually sealed at the final whistle.
With three games to go, MYDA sit second bottom with 14 points, twelve points below Busoga United who occupy the last survival place.
For BUL, there are just a win from confirming their stay into next season’s SUPL as they are now 10 points above the relegation line.
