Muhammad Shaban struck twice as Onduparaka defeated Express FC 2-0 at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium in Wakulukuku on Friday.

Shaban scored in the early minutes of either halves to help the Caterpillars raid Red Eagles and earn their fifth consecutive victory in the league.

Onduparaka took an early lead into the game when Shaban capitalized on poor goalkeeper by Joel Mutakubwa to net his 14th goal of the season. Mutakubwa failed to collect a simple Emmanuel Oketch’s over the top long pass in the fourth minute.

Despite conceding early, Express looked the better side of the opening half and had several chances to level matters but were unlucky.

First Eric Kambale had his weak effort saved by Mathias Muwanga in the 16th minute before Joseph Akwadanawo failed to beat Muwanga few minutes later.

Kambale then skied his effort wide after being set up by Faisal Ssekyanzi in the 27th minute.

Just before the break, Muwanga made another brilliant save to deny Kambale who rose highest to put his head on Arthur Kiggundu’s cross.

Despite being dominant. The Red Eagles went into the break trailing by Shaban’s early strike.

Just like in the opening half, Shaban got on target again five minutes into the second half after running onto Oketch’s pass to loop past the onrushing Mutakubwa to double the Caterpillars lead.

Express almost pulled a goal back in the 57th minute but Kambale headed onto the post after an excellent John Byamukama corner.

A minute later, Onduparaka defender Denis Ojara then run to the goal line to stop Kambale’s effort that had already beaten Muwanga.

Express continued attacking end and their next chance fell to Enock Ssebagaala in the 70th minute, who dribbled past five defenders to shot on target, but once again Muwanga denied him before Ojara headed away.

The Caterpillars had to finish the game without a head coach after Dudu Bosco was ejected by Center Referee Ssali Mashood for questioning several decision done on pitch.

With the victory, Onduparaka move to 33 points garnered in 25 games and now sit 8th on the log.

For Express, they remain sixth with 42 points in 26 games.
