Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA FC) head coach Mike Mutebi has revealed the reason why Bright Anukani and Andrew Kawooya never made the matchday squad for the Kasasiro Boys’ game against Soltilo Bright Stars FC on Thursday.

In the press conference held ahead of KCCA FC’s match against Onduparaka, Mutebi has confirmed that the pair tested positive for COVID-19.

“Both Anukani and Kawooya tested positive for Coronavirus before our game against Bright Stars that’s why they never made our matchday squad,” Mutebi said before adding;

“We all know Anukani’s capabilities and is a huge miss for us, but we have capable players in our squad like Keziron Kizito, Juma Balinya, and Ashraf Mugume who can fill up that position.”

“The pair is in good health in isolation at home and within a few weeks, we expect them to be back.”

Both Anukani and Kawooya joined KCCA FC during the recently concluded transfer window from Proline (loan) and Vipers Junior team respectively.

While Anukani has featured in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League before for Proline FC (who eventually got relegated), Andrew Kawooya will be looking to feature his first time in Uganda’s top-flight league.

KCCA FC will host Onduparaka FC tomorrow 7th December 2020 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on matchday II of the 2020/21 season.

KCCA FC beat Soltilo Bright Stars 2-1 at the Kavumba Recreation center with goals coming in from new signing Brian Aheebwa and Sam Ssenyonjo, while Joseph Akandwanaho scored the consolation for the home side.

Meanwhile, Onduparaka FC held Wasswa Bbsosa’s Express FC to a 1-all draw with both goals coming from penalties – Frank Kalanda and Kabon living score in either half to ensure the game ended in a draw.

Onduparaka’s last trip to the MTN Omondi stadium ended in a 4-1 drabbing for the home side. The Caterpillars visit Lugogo with almost a new team after the departure of notable players in Geriga Atendere, Hassan Muhammed among others.
