StarTimes UPL: Magambo nets brace as KCCA cruise past Kitara

Defender Peter Magambo was on target twice as KCCA cruised past Kitara FC in a StarTimes Uganda Premier league game at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

It was just one-way traffic at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday evening as KCCA recorded a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Kitara FC

A brace by Peter Magambo and a goal each by Samson Kigozi and Bright Anukani

were enough for the Kasasiro Boys to return to winning ways.

Anaku, who returned to the starting lineup for the first time this season had a chance to put KCCA ahead in the very first minute of the game but he saw his effort parried away for a cornerkick by goalie Ivan Bingo.

A few minutes afterwards KCCA had another brilliant chance by Ivan when he parried away Bright Anukani’s shot from outside the box to a cornerkick

From a throw-in from the right by Filbert Obenchan in the 11th minute, the Kasasiro Boys finally broke the deadlock when Kitara goalie Ivan came out of his goal, miscalculated the throw-in and the ball fell to Peter Magambo to head in from close range for KCCA’s first.

Kitara then wasted a brilliant chance to level matters four minutes afterwards when Edson Agondeze put his effort wide after a wonderful cornerkick by Pius Mbidde.

Ivan then made a brilliant save to deny KCCA from doubling their lead when he superbly stopped Aheebwa’s strong header in the 15th minute.

With 28 minutes on the clock, after wonderful buildup between Aheebwa and Anukani, Sadat Anaku was found but the teenager curried his effort just above the bar.

Despite having dominated the most of the opening half, the game went into the halftime break with KCCA just holding a narrow 1-0 lead over Kitara.

At the beginning of the second half, KCCA FC head coach bought on Andrew Kigozi and Charles Lwanga for Kenziron Kizito and Brian Aheebwa with hope to extend his side’s lead.

And it never took long for them to extend their lead after an Ivan goalkeeping howler gifted Anukani a chance to double the scoreline, and the youngster did no mistake, slotting the ball into an empty net.

Four minutes afterwards, it was three for the Kasasiro Boys as Magambo completed his brace by heading from close range off a well driven Musana cornerkick.

Substitute Samson Kigozi made it four for KCCA in the 61st minute after Anaku set him up after a bursting run on the right hand side. Kigozi received the ball, controlled it with ease before making a turn to bullet it into the back of the net.

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club now moves to 17 points, five below top placed Vipers SC while Kitara remains second from bottom, with just a single point garnered in ten games.
