StarTimes UPL: KCCA, Vipers drop more points in title race

Both KCCA FC and Vipers SC dropped more points in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title race on Wednesday as they failed to win their games.

The two played out to stalemates in their game against Blacks Power and Maroons FC respectively.

The Kasasiro Boys played out to a 1-all stalemate with Blacks Power in Lira while also the Venoms did the same in Luzira when they conceded a late goal for their game against Maroons to end 2-all

Blacks Power 1-1 KCCA

Coming into the game four points below current leaders SC Villa, KCCA had to come from a goal down to secure a point at the Aki Bua Memorial Stadium.

Robert Eseru put Blacks Power ahead in the seventh minute before Denis Iguma levelled matters for KCCA 30 minutes later.

With the game still 0-0, Blacks Power had a brilliant chances to break the deadlock but Denis Otim sent his effort wide while with the game 1-0, Eseru, who was set through by Michael Siwu had his powerful shot saved by Derrick Ochan.

Apart from Iguma leveller, KCCA other attempts at goal fell to Usama Arafat and Mohammad Kagawa Ssenonga, who all failed to find the target on their efforts.

With a point, KCCA (37) are now three points below SC Villa who have played two games more

For Blacks Power, they move to 16 points garnered in their 20 games.

Vipers winless in three league games

Fredrick Kigozi scored with arguably the last kick of the game for Maroons FC to extend Vipers winless league win to three games.

The Venoms took the lead as early as the 8th minute through skipper Milton Karisa, but that lead never lasted long as Fred Amaku levelled matters for Maroons 10 minutes later.

Karisa restored the Venoms’ lead midway the closing half with a nice acrobatic effort past Emmanuel Akol.

At almost the death of the game, Vipers endured a heart break following Kigozi header past a helpless Fabian Mutombora.

With two points dropped, Vipers move to 30 points garnered in their 17 games. They are now 10 points below Villa, who have played three games more.
