Express FC cruised past the quarterfinals after a comfortable win over Zombo’s Paidha Black Angels in the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Wednesday evening.
In a game where the Red Eagles were in fine mood the scoreline at the 90th minute was 4-0 in favour of the home side against regional league side. Express’ goals came from Faisal Ssekyanzi, Boban Zirintusa who bagged a brace and Anwar Ntege who put an icing on the cake.
Unlike all the other days Express FC was captained by forward Allan Kayiwa for the first time this season and with just nine minutes chopped off the game, Ssekyanzi netted to award a dominant Express FC a deserved lead.
Six minutes later, Enock Ssebagala and Zirintusa forced a save from Paidha Black Angels shot stopper but made it happen ten minutes to the break, to double the Red Eagles lead.
The former Busoga forward then added his second on the day and third for the team after heading in a rebound off the post pushing Express FC into a chilly 3-0 lead before the halftime break.
For Paidha Black Angeles, there was nothing to play for but pride in the second half but Express FC through Striker Anwar Ntege continued to strike to put the Red Eagles 4-0 up
This victory means that Express head to the quarterfinals stage of the Stanbic Uganda Cup to join Vipers SC, Bright Stars and defending Champions BUL FC who have edged Onduparaka 1-0 at the Greenlight stadium in Arua.
