St Janan Luwum Secondary School were crowned champions of the U16 Boys Football, USSSA Ball Games II Non FEASSA Qualifiers after defeating Al Noor Islamic Secondary School in the final played at Teso College, Soroti was on Friday 6th, September 2024.
The Kabalagala Campus side did all with a 2-0 score line thanks to goals from towering, left-footed centre back, Shafic Kitimbo and Kato Rwahim.
Kitimbo put his side into lead with a great free kick at a quarter an hour mark following a foul committed on the tournament Nicholas Kawooya to end the half time 1-0.
Into the second half, Kato Rwahim headed the ball to the net only to double the lead from a Henry Ddamulira free kick, finishing the game 2-0.
In their road to final, Janan eliminated East African champions, Amus College 2-0 while Al Noor beat off title contenders, Light High School Sseguku in a 4-2 penalty shootout.

In the Women’s side, Boni Consili a side from Isingiro defeated Kawempe Muslim by 4-1 in penalties after a 1-all draw in the normal time.
For the CAF PAN African Schools Championship, St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende and St Noa Girls School in the boys and girls category respectively and will both represent Uganda in CECAFA qualifiers.
St Mary’s Kitende retained the title after topping the boys group which was played on a round robin format while St Noa Girls’ School who will represent Uganda in the girls category Kawempe Muslim Secondary School 1-0 in their final game to book ticket.
On the other side, Standard High School Zzana came out big in both boys and girls Beach Soccer champions while Amus College also did a basketball game sweep winning two coveted trophies from the boys and girls category.
Mpoma School girls Woodball team won this year’s Woodball title and Bukedea Comprehensive School won the Girls’ beach volleyball champions 2024.
During the closing ceremony, Hajji Ismail Mulindwa, Director of Basic Education credited the capacity building and training program;
“All schools are supposed to participate in games and sports.” He stated
“I want to give much credit to Capacity Building and training Program. When we start nurturing these boys and girls at a young age, the future of Uganda on the international scene is very bright.” He concluded
The 2024 USSSA Ball Games II -Non FEASSA Qualifiers started on Monday 2nd September and climaxed on Friday 6th at Teso College Aloet, Soroti.
