NBL Playoffs: Women finals put on hold ahead of game six

Days after City Oilers swept KIU to win the Men’s National Basketball League best-of-seven series final playoffs on Wednesday, it was expected that the Women’s division will take the same course.

However it was announced that the series were paused at 3-2 in favour of the defending champions JKL Dolphins due to the FIBA 3X3 World Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia slated to start on 11th September 2024 and climax on 15th.

All this was put to light through a statement by the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) on Saturday morning citing that both teams will be affected by the event.

“Games 6 & 7 of the WNBL have been rescheduled to dates after Wednesday 18th September, due to the 3×3 World Cup in Mongolia that impacts both JKL & UCU teams.” the statement read

“An email on the same will be sent out today (Saturday) with the rescheduled dates,” it concluded

The Uganda Women’s U23 side won the Women’s FIBA 3X3 Youth Nations League at Lugogo in August where they grabbed their ticket to the above tournament.
