Kabale University hosted YMCA on their return to University Football League action played out a goalless stalemate at in Kabale on Tuesday evening.
Kabale University started off the game on a high scoring a goal as early as the 13th minute however it was chopped after the liner observing an offside.
Seven minutes later Kabuunga Wiliam and Wasswa managed to string a great move on the other end for YMCA with Wasswa chopping inside and delivering to Kabuunga in the box who steers his efforts into the goal but the offside flag too was raised.
At the half hour mark, YMCA forward Kigenyi Benon strike forced a great save out of Kabale shot stopper Wutwali Derrick who palmed the ball into Kankazi Banton’s path who remarkably saw his close-range follow-up cleared for corner.
Three minutes to half time, Kigenyi continued to pile pressure on the Kabale defense as he went close again, shooting at Wutwali after a great pass from Martin Ssebanjjwe.
An action that made Wutwali braver with another crucial save as the ball was whipped in dangerously only to keep the game at 0-0.
Ten (10) minutes after the restart, Kigenyi continued to torment Kabale as he dropped deep into the centre-circle before picking up possession where he passed to Wasswa who took a touch to get into the box and hit a shot looking for the far post but his effort went off target.
With twenty (20) minutes left on the game, Christian Muhindo met Miracle Abaho’s cross after it beat YMCA goal keeper Peter Isabirye but the team captain Wasswa Jesse saved the visitors before the hosts had another chance through Solomon Ainembabazi’s effort that flew wide.
Four minutes to the 90, Kanganzi hit the woodwork with his well bent effort that went past Wutwali after a wonderful pass from Wasswa, the game ending in a stalemate.
The result leaves Kabale University in third position and YMCA in fourth of Group C after SLAU and UCU who opened up the League action in opener with a 1-1 scoreline.
Wednesday 25th September will see Group F action as Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) host Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in Mbarara at 3pm.
