The Baby Victoria Pearls delivered an impressive performance, securing their second tournament victory with a dominant 9-wicket win over Kenya at the IPRC Oval in Kigali.

After Kenya won the toss and opted to bat, Uganda’s bowlers swiftly seized control of the match, with Lorna Anyait emerging as the standout performer.

She achieved a remarkable career-best of 7 wickets for just 6 runs, including a hat-trick, leaving Kenya reeling at a paltry 37 runs in just 13.5 overs.

Although Uganda faced an early challenge losing captain Jimia Muhammad, Asumin Akurut (13) and Patricia Fiona Timong (14) effectively steadied the innings, steering the team to victory with 11 overs to spare.

This commanding win positions Uganda at the top of Group A with 4 points from 2 matches, boasting a superior net run rate over Rwanda, who are level on points.

Both teams have secured their semifinal spots, setting the stage for an exciting final group match where they will clash to determine the group leader.

Head coach Yusuf Nanga commended the team’s unity and focus, stating, “In both our games, we have played as a cohesive unit. Moving forward, we aim to adhere to our plans and not underestimate any opponent. We hope to maintain this momentum in our upcoming match against Rwanda on Wednesday.” This collective resolve may ultimately prove crucial as they aim for tournament success.
