“Nobody Has Called Me to Resign” — Magogo Breaks Silence on FUFA Future

Moses Hashim Magogo has publicly dismissed speculation surrounding his future as president of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations, insisting that he remains firmly in charge and focused on Ugandan football.

Magogo broke his silence while addressing the Uganda national under-17 football team during a special dinner hosted at Sheraton Kampala Hotel to celebrate the team’s historic qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

His comments come amid growing public debate and political speculation linked to recent pressure surrounding former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among, who is also his wife.

Addressing the issue directly, Magogo told guests and players at the event:

“Nobody has called me for a meeting to resign. Tebabatisatisa. I’m still here, and we have work to do.”

The statement marked one of Magogo’s clearest responses yet to rumors regarding his position at the helm of Ugandan football.

In recent weeks, the FUFA president has maintained a relatively low public profile, with his absence particularly noticeable during the Uganda Premier League title celebrations in Kitende where Vipers SC were crowned 2025/26 league champions.

Despite the speculation, Magogo appeared relaxed and confident during the Sheraton function as he praised the Uganda Cubs for securing the country’s return to the FIFA U-17 World Cup stage.

Uganda’s qualification for the global tournament has been widely hailed as one of the country’s biggest recent football achievements, with FUFA leadership expected to play a central role in preparations for the competition later this year.

Magogo’s latest remarks now appear aimed at calming uncertainty while reaffirming his commitment to continuing his work at FUFA.
