The 2024 Boys Schools Cricket Week in Jinja has reached its critical phase, with teams intensifying their pursuit of semifinal berths.

Defending champions Jinja SS showcased their dominance, decisively defeating Aga Khan at their home ground.
Captain Mulongo Paul and Pius Oloka anchored the innings with crucial half-centuries, helping Jinja SS recover from early setbacks.

Aga Khan struggled in their run chase, losing wickets in quick succession and subsequently falling to Nyakasura later in the day, effectively ending their semifinal hopes.

Jinja SS and Nyakasura will clash tomorrow morning to determine the group leader.

In the other group, record-holders Busoga College Mwiri secured their semifinal spot by overcoming both Teso College Aloet and Delhi Public School.

Delhi Public provided a stern challenge in the afternoon match, but Gerald Olipa’s half-century ensured a narrow victory for Mwiri.

Eric Mukisa also demonstrated his value with a half-century in the morning and a crucial 24 not out in the afternoon, proving himself a reliable asset.

Mwiri will face either Nyakasura or Jinja SS in the semifinal.

In the plate event, Ntare School broke their losing streak with two consecutive victories, showing marked improvement after a challenging group stage. Similarly, Masaka SS found their rhythm with two wins, keeping their semifinal hopes alive.

St Joseph’s College Layibi had a mixed day, securing a morning win but narrowly losing to King’s College Budo by one run in the afternoon.

Horizon International remains the only team yet to secure a win in the tournament.
