Loice Chekwemoi’s silver from the women’s 3,000m steeplechase finals has taken Uganda’s medal tally to three at the U20 World Athletics Championships in the South American City of Lima, Peru.
Ethiopian, Sembo Almaye dominated the race and took gold with the toppings of breaking the championship record, in 3rd place came Kenyan Diana Chepkemoi and Uganda’s other representative on track Nancy Chepkwurui finished fifth.
In the men’s 3,000m final. Herbert Kibet and Titus Masau came 5th and 12th respectively.
The rest of Uganda’s action from Day3 had Keziah Chebet and Bentalin Yeko who both finished 3rd in the women’s 3,000m heats, a position which earned them spots in Friday’s final after the first eight from each of the two heats qualified.
Uganda’s previous medals were won on day one by Charity Cherop and Kenneth Kiprop in the women’s and men’s 5,000m finals respectively.
