StarTimes UPL 2020/21 best goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga has parted ways with the season’s champions Express FC. The club confirmed that the goalkeeper has left the club.
Muwanga has been at the club since 2018 and leaves as a free agent after his contact expired at the end of last season
The Red Eagles announced Muwanga’s departure through their official website on Monday afternoon.
“Express FC would like to place on record it’s thanks to Mathias Muwanga who has shown his 100% commitment and made his mark during one of the best seasons in our club’s history,” read part of a post on Express’ website.
The goalkeeper joined the champions at the start of the 2018/19 season and managed 24 clean sheets in 54 games in all competitions.
Last season, he helped the Red Eagles lift their seventh title in history, keeping the most clean sheets in the league (13) hence winning the Golden Glove.
The club is understood to be in negotiations with Kyetume goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa to replace Muwanga.
Express are the defending Champions of the Uganda Premier League.
