Leaders Villa beaten by Maroons in Luzira

StarTimes Uganda Premier League log leaders SC Villa suffered a blow in their title chase after they were beaten 1-0 by Maroons in Luzira on Wednesday.

Ronald Orombi scored the all important goal for Prison’s side to hand the Jogoos their seventh loss of the season.

Orombi’s goal came in the 32nd minute as he ferociously shot at goal after being the first to react on Brian Kayanja’s blocked effort.

Before that Orombi’s goal, SC Villa almost went ahead but Ivan Bogere’s header bounced off the woodwork.

In the closing half, Villa also had several chances to find the back of the net but failed to get their efforts past an outstanding Simon Tamale

Tamale denied Patrick Jonah Kakande in the 63rd minute before doing the same to Charles Bbaale and Travis Mutyaba’s attempts.

At the end, Villa lost the game 1-0 to remain only a point above KCCA FC, who have played a game less.

The Jogoos are also only four points below Vipers SC, who have played three games less

For Maroons FC, they move to fifth position on the log with 36 points.
