Blacks Power Head Coach Simon Peter Mugerwa wants his side to prove they belong in the Uganda Premier League when they host Police at Hoima City Stadium on Wednesday.

The Lira-based side opened the season with a 1-0 win over fellow newcomers Ntugasaze and Mugerwa wants another strong performance against Police.

“We want to establish ourselves as a truly premiership side and the game against Police gives us an opportunity to show our abilities,” Mugerwa said.

“The win in the opening game gave us morale and we want to build on that against a tough side.”

Police also started with a 1-0 victory, beating Mbarara City at home. The Cops will look to Ivan Mayanja, DR Congo import Bedia Ikamba and Lawrence Tezikya for goals against a Blacks Power side that kept a clean sheet in its opener.

The two sides have met twice in the Premier League, with each winning once.

At the Police Arena in Kamwokya, Ntugasaze will be desperate for their first top-flight points when they face Maroons.

The newcomers lost 1-0 to Blacks Power in their opening game and coach Pius Ngabo will hope his players respond on home ground.

Maroons are also looking for a response after losing 2-1 to URA despite taking an early lead.

Darius Ojok, Abel Eturude and Marvin Oshaba will be expected to lead the visitors as they seek their first win.

Both matches kick off at 4pm.
