Kitara scored late on to stun the record champions SC Villa on their return to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
With the scores levelled at 1-all at almost the death, Elvis Ngonde scored into his own net to help Kitara secure the victory.
Denis Omendi had earlier put Kitara ahead before Charles Lwanga netted from close range to put Villa level before halftime.
SC Villa who didn’t start off the game we’ll have an improved performance in the second half and had a couple of chances to win it before Ngonde’s own goal.
Firstly Abasi Kyeyube had his left footed shot parried out by Crispus Kusiima before the Kitara keeper did the same to Arnold Odong’s shot.
Kitara late goal came from a defensive mix-up that saw substitute Livin Kabon through at goal to take an effort which deflected off Ngonde to beat Norman Angufidru- the Villa goalkeeper.
After the disappointing loss, SC Villa will visit Maroons next on September 24 while Kitara will host UPDF
