Kenyan Simbas Joel Inzuga emerged as the top try scorer in the recently concluded Victoria Cup with a brace in each of the games against Zambia and Uganda.
Inzuga’s ten (10) point contribution was enough to secure a win against Zambia at Kyadondo Rugby grounds but was no match for the Rugby Cranes infront of a packed King’s Park Arena in Bweyogerere, losing 21-20 in a game that was also the Elgon Cup first leg making its debut at these grounds and a return since 2019.
This is quite a statement coming from the man who managed to silence the King’s Park for the first 10 minutes of play with his two tries.
“It’s hard to play in Kampala, because of the fans. They are really passionate about their team.” Joel Inzunga.
On the day, seasoned rugby fans were joined by football’s ring leaders like KCCA Fc’s Kassim Kyazze with his whole body paint entourage and the Vuvuzela maestro Kamodo, it was a mix of passions.
The numbers that flooded King’s Park Arena after Uganda’s victory to join the celebrations headlined by Madoxx Sematimba made an even mightier crowd.
Uganda Rugby Cranes will make the trip to Kisumu to defend their lead on Saturday 11th November, 2023 at the Jomo kenyatta International Stadium Mamboleo grounds in the company of the Lady Cranes who will play the Kenyan Lionesses on the same date in the women’s version of the Elgon Cup.
