KCCA FC Target Redemption in Tough Luzira Test Against Maroons

KCCA FC return to StarTimes Uganda Premier League action this Wednesday with a short but demanding trip to the Maroons Stadium in Luzira, as the Cityzens seek an immediate response following a disappointing start to the new year.

The Kasasiro Boys come into this fixture determined to put things right after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Police FC in their previous outing. That result halted KCCA FC’s momentum and prompted serious reflection within the camp, as the club looks to maintain its push at the summit of the league table.

Currently sitting second with 26 points, KCCA FC know that this encounter presents a vital opportunity to reassert their title credentials against a disciplined Maroons side.

Standing in their way is a resilient Maroons FC team that has turned Luzira into a difficult hunting ground this season. The Prison Warders are seventh on the table with 15 points, but their home form has been particularly impressive.

Maroons remain unbeaten at home this term, having played six matches at the Maroons Stadium, winning three and drawing three. Notably, all four of their league defeats this season have come away from Luzira, underlining the scale of the challenge awaiting the Cityzens on Wednesday.

Speaking to the club’s media ahead of the trip, Co-Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo was candid about expectations following the Police FC defeat.

“The performance in our last outing was unacceptable for a club of this stature. We have informed the players that we cannot represent KCCA FC in that manner again. Luzira is never an easy place to visit, but we have worked on our game management, and we are going there to fight for every ball and ensure we bring something positive back to Lugogo.”

With Maroons’ strong home record and KCCA FC’s ambition to stay firmly in the title race, Wednesday’s clash promises to be a stern examination of character, discipline, and tactical maturity.

For the Cityzens, a positive result in Luzira would not only restore confidence but also send a clear message to their title rivals that the setback against Police FC was merely a stumble, not a sign of decline.
