Hosts Morocco and reigning heavyweights Senegal will meet in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after both sides emerged victorious from tense semi-final encounters on Wednesday.
Morocco booked their place in the final with a dramatic penalty shootout win over Nigeria in Rabat following a 0–0 draw after 120 minutes. Substitute Youssef En-Nesyri converted the decisive spot kick after goalkeeper Yassine Bounou made two crucial saves in the shootout, sending the Atlas Lions into their first AFCON final since 2004 and keeping alive hopes of a first title in 50 years.

Earlier, Senegal edged Egypt 1–0 in a fiercely contested semi-final despite disciplinary setbacks. The Teranga Lions showed resilience to secure their place in the final, though they will be without captain Kalidou Koulibaly and Habib Diarra due to suspension.
The AFCON 2025 final will be played on Sunday in Rabat, with Morocco seeking to capitalise on home advantage against a disciplined Senegal side aiming to add another continental crown to their history.
