Kampala Hockey Club (KHC) will represent Uganda at the Africa Cup for Club Champions, which kicks off tomorrow, 24th January 2026, in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The tournament runs until 31st January, with KHC aiming to build on its impressive performance at the previous edition, where the club finished third and returned home with a bronze medal.
Kampala Hockey Club will open its campaign against School of Environmental Health Hockey Club of Namibia at 12:00 pm in its opening fixture.
The club travelled to Harare with a 30-member contingent led by Club Treasurer Sarah Arinaitwe, who is serving as the Chef de Mission (CDM).
The delegation is also accompanied by the President of the Uganda Hockey Association (UHA), Philip Wafula, representing the Association.
The contingent comprises 18 players, two tournament officials, nine technical staff, and one association representative.
Ahead of departure, the team was officially flagged off by the National Council of Sports (NCS) Assistant General Secretary (Technical), Milton Chebet, alongside Ann Sarah Nankya, Senior Sports Officer at NCS. Kampala Hockey Club departed Uganda aboard RwandAir on 22nd January 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in preparation for the continental showpiece.
Kampala Hockey Club’s participation in the tournament has been made possible through funding from the National Council of Sports (NCS), club collections, and support from well-wishers.
Speaking before departure, Chef de Mission Sarah Arinaitwe expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, saying

while thanking NCS for the tremendous financial support and reaffirming the team’s determination to succeed.
Uganda Hockey Association President Philip Wafula praised Kampala Hockey Club for its consistent representation of Uganda at this level for three consecutive editions and challenged the team to improve on its previous performances by going beyond the bronze-medal finish achieved in 2023.
Ann Sarah Nankya commended the team for its discipline and urged the delegation to represent Uganda with pride and integrity, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding and promoting the country’s image.
Milton Chebet applauded the club’s continued collaboration with the Association and its long-standing contribution to the growth of hockey in Uganda.
He reminded the players to uphold the values of sportsmanship, respect, commitment, dedication, and fair play, challenged them to return with a medal, and reaffirmed continued government support for the sport.
Kampala Hockey Club thanked all stakeholders for their continued support and pledged to represent Uganda with pride, discipline, and distinction at Africa’s premier club hockey tournament.
