KCCA FC Assistant captain Julius Poloto is confident his club can make it to the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup this year.
The draws conducted on Tuesday evening in Cairo, Egypt had last season’s StarTimes UPL runners up handed a bye into the second round of the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup and are set to face the winner between Botswana’s Orapa United or Rwanda’s AS Kigali.
Speaking to the club media team, Julius Poloto says making the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup is one of his club’s targets this season.
“We have very many goals this season,” he says.
“We have to win the league and the Uganda Cup and we want to make the group stages and quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.”
“We have been training so hard and we have been preparing very well that every player, both the juniors and seniors know the ambitions of the club.”
KCCA FC will be targeting to reach the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup once again, having achieved the same feat in 2017.
The Kasasiro Boys finished third in group A on nine points, three behind Club Africain and same with FUS Rabat, though the Moroccan club had a superior goal difference.
Julius Poloto spent most of last season out (nine months) with an injury and only returned to KCCA FC’s lineup in that 4-0 thrashing of Proline FC at the end of the first round.
KCCA FC finished second behind StarTimes UPL season winners Vipers SC last season and were selected to represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup after all football was prematurely ended, including the Uganda Cup.
