KCCA-UPDF Clash Ordered to Resume From Abandoned Point

KCCA FC and UPDF FC will have to return to the pitch to finish their abandoned Uganda Premier League clash after the FUFA Disciplinary Panel ordered the match to resume from where it stopped.

This fixture was abandoned last Thursday, just eight minutes after kick-off, when a floodlights failure at MTN Omondi Stadium left the playing area without sufficient lighting for play to continue.

After reviewing the circumstances surrounding the abandonment, the Panel ruled that the match should be treated as a Continuation of Play Match rather than replayed in full.

The decision was made under Rule 31 of the FUFA Competitions Rules 2026, which allows an interrupted match to be continued when the circumstances leading to the stoppage are unavoidable.

As a result, KCCA and UPDF will resume the fixture from the eighth minute, with the match score and playing time from the abandoned encounter carrying over. The two sides will then play the remaining 82 minutes.

The Panel also placed the financial responsibility for the abandoned fixture on KCCA. The Kasasiro Boys have been ordered to reimburse UPDF for the costs it incurred in connection with the match.

In addition, KCCA have been handed a UGX 1 million fine as part of the disciplinary decision.

The ruling effectively settles the immediate question over the fate of the fixture, with the Uganda Premier League expected to communicate the date and arrangements for the continuation.
