Ishmail Wainright: Silverbacks forward joins another NBA side

When one door closes, another one will always open- Silverbacks forward Ishmail Wainright has signed for Western Conference NBA side Phoenix Suns.

Wainright joins the Sun’s as a free agent after he was waived by Toronto Raptors last weekend.

Despite playing well with the Raptors in the training camp, the 2019 NBA  Champions parted ways with Wainright as they opted for Sam Dekker and Isaac Bonga to fill the two vacant slots left on their roaster.

Now,  Ish as nicknamed, he signed a two-way employment contract with the Valley side.

He joins the Western Conference NBA side to fill the player spot left after the release of Chasson Randle during the training camp.

Born in Kansas City, Wainright spent three seasons oversea in France and Germany leagues.

He opted to play for Uganda as a naturalised player and he averaged 12.6 points, 9.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists as Uganda finished sixth at the 2021 FIBA AfroBasket in Kigali.
