HSBC World Rugby Challenger Series: Uganda off to quarter-finals


The Uganda rugby Cranes qualified to the main cup quarter-finals of the inaugural HSBC World Rugby Challengers Series after recording 2 wins in their opening 3 games at the Estadio Sausalito in  Chile

Phillip Wokorach scored 3 tries and 3 conversions to guide the Cranes past Italy 24-14 for his teams first win of the day.

In the Second game,  Uganda ran riot on Paraguay to record a 47-0 win over the South American outfits.

Phillip Wokorach, Ian Munyani and Solomon Okia all notched in 2 tries each to propel the Rugby Cranes to their second win in two games in Pool C.

Having won their first two games in Pool C, Germany and Uganda had to verse each other to find out who tops the group after both were asured to qualification to the Main Cup quarter-finals.

Despite leading early on, Uganda fell short by 7 points as they lost 19-12 to the European heavyweights, Germany to finish second in the Pool C

Aaron Ofoywroth and Nobert Okeny scored a try respectively for Uganda on the losing effort

Uganda will face the top placed team in Pool B in the last quarter-finals of the day
