FWSL: Namwembe strikes late to take She Maroons past Uganda Martyrs

Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women Football Club suffered their second defeat of the campaign after losing 2-1 away to She Maroons at the Luzira Prison grounds on Tuesday.

With a goalless first half, all the action fell in through thanks to three goals netted in the last 15 minutes of the game.

She Maroons scored the first goal of the game through their forward Jackline Adong in the 67th minute.

Nine minutes later, Uganda Martyrs Captain Latifah Nakasi leveled matters after converting from a well delivered penetrative pass from Sumayiya Nalumu.

Later on, with a minute left on the clock a Millicent Namwembe strike was enough to edge it for Prison Ladies after Sharon Kaidu fumbled with the ball in the closing moments of the match inorder to secure a 2-1 home win.

The result means that the unbeaten She Maroons collect their second of the season after their opening victory and having accumulated three point in their last consecutive three games making in 9 points in 5 games.

For Uganda Martyrs, this is their second loss of campaign and leaves Rogers Nkugwa’s army third on the log with 7 points in Five games.

In the other games of Matchday Five, Asubo Gafford Ladies Club at home edged UCU Lady Cardinals 1-0 thanks to a 29th minute strike by Aziiza Amulen at the Kampala Quality Stadium.

For Makerere University Women Football Club, they drew one all with Lady Doves at Makerere just like Wakiso Hill and Rines SS in their Wakiso derby at the St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

The Wakiso Hill goal was thanks to a 15th minute goal by Jaridah Nanyonjo from Moureen Kimono’s well delivered cross while Amina Nababi equalized 19 minutes later.
