The Uganda Mens Senior National Football team, Uganda Cranes won their first game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Somalia on Tuesday 21st November.
Rogers Mato scored the only goal of the match at the Stade Du Municipal in Berkane, Morocco after a good assist from teenager Allan Oyirwoth.
All this was started with a good run by Travis Mutyaba who set Elvis Bwomono free on the right wing only to find Oyirwoth free inside the box to set up Mato.
Mato should have netted his second on the day in the 38th minute but he lost the ball in attempt of rounding off the goalkeeper.
Close to the of the opening half, Somalia were reduced to ten players after the referee only to send off Ahmed Mohammed after a foul on Mato.
After restart, Put brought on Umaru Lutalo and Bobosi Byaruhanga in places of Oyirwoth and captain Khalid Aucho to maintain more of the possession.
Therefore Uganda concluded the first window of the World Cup Qualifiers with three points from two games and will return to action with two home games against Botswana and Algeria at Namboole Stadium in June next year.
