FUFA Big league: Brian Olega comes off the bench to fire Mbale Heroes past Paidha Black Angels

Substitute Brian Olega came off the bench to net the winner as Mbale Heroes defeated Paidha Black Angels 1-0 in a StarTimes FUFA Big league game played at the Mbale Municipal Stadium on Thursday.

Olega came off the bench after the halftime break and by the 65th minute, he had netted the game’s winner.

During the opening stages of the game, the visitors had the real test at goal three minutes into the game with Eric free-kick but it’s went agonizingly wide off the mark.

The visitors continued to dominate proceedings in the opening half and came close to breaking the deadlock on separate occasions but Pithua Floribet and Kilama Dickens were beneficiaries of poor misses from close range.

At the start of the second half, Brian Olega was introduced on for Vincent Oundo for the Mbale Heroes’ change.

A decision made by head coach Hussein Kheri that would resulted into winner in the 66th minute when Olega netted from a rebound after Ibrahim Kibumba’s free-kick.

Moments later, Paidha fashioned a brilliant goalscoring chance but substitute Choka Julius had his shot easily saved by Hatim Hilbert.

Mbale Heroes could have doubled their lead in the 72nd minute but Olega missed the target from close range in a move that resulted from Kibumba’s long throw-in.

Few minutes afterwards, Kibumba also had his chance to get his name on the score sheet but his sublime effort was parried away by the Paidha goalkeeper Jonathan Oyirwoth.

The last attempt of the game fell to Mbale Heroes but Steven Makumbi, who came on for Joel Male put his effort just wide after a nice interplay with Jamal Buchochera.

1-0 it ended as referee George William Nkurunziza blew the final whistle.
