The Uganda men’s basketball team, the Silverbacks have risen four places in the latest FIBA world rankings released on Wednesday 9th of December 2020.
The Silverbacks that garnered 96.7 points rose from 100th to 97th out of 168 member countries ranked by the world basketball governing body.
Uganda’s rise in ranking follows their incredible performance in the first window of the FIBA AfroBasket qualifiers in Alexandria, Egypt where they garnered 5 points in group W having won two of three games played (beating Cape Verde and Morocco).
Group E leaders Egypt sit 60th with 170.1 points while Morocco ( 132.5) and Cape Verde ( 98.4) are 69th and 94th respectively.
USA is FIBA’s number 1 ranked side while the only change in the top 10 sees Russia rise two places from 11th position to 9th.
South Sudan has been made the biggest climb in the rankings, having risen 9 places to 98th.
