FAU holds second successful AGM

The Futsal Association Uganda ( FAU) successful held it’s second ever Annual General Assembly Meeting (AGM) on Friday, 26th August 2022 at Kenendia Hotel in Kampala.

FAU was successful admitted as the 34th member of Federation of Uganda Football Associations ( FUFA) in the 95th FUFA General Assembly that took place in Adjumani in 2019.

The meeting was chaired by FAU Chairman Hamzah Jjunju, who was in company of FAU CEO Ibrahim Mugera and FUFA Deputy CEO-Governance Samuel Bakiika.

During this meeting, the association voted and passed the admissions of two more Futsal clubs that will be registered for the 2022/23 Futsal Super League.

During his speech, Futsal Chairman Jjunju hinted on the sport being one of the fastest growing sports in Uganda and appreciated FUFA’s support towards the young football associations

“Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports in Uganda and we have so far successfully completed three League seasons, with the first ever league organized in 2017, which won by SAUNA FC.” Jjunju noted before adding;

“We appreciate the support that we have gotten from FUFA for the past few years, but still we need more support from our lovely federation for the smooth running of our events throughout the years”

Among the other key issues that were raised, debated on and voted on included the proposal to ammend the membership statute to make sure all members are represented by two delegates of which one must be a lady/woman.

The other proposal which was passed was to start the Futsal boys and girls U12 League which will help in the development at the grassroots and prepare the team for the Youth Olympics in 2026

The activity report from the previous year was also passed as well as the budget for the upcoming season that totals up to 191,100,000 for the financial year 2022/23.
