Ugandan futsal referees Brian Nsubuga Emmy and Isaac Sengendo continue to earn continental recognition after being appointed to officiate matches in the 2026 CAF Futsal Qualifiers, underlining their rising profile in African futsal refereeing.
CAF match appointment records confirm that the two officials will handle fixtures scheduled for early February across Southern and East Africa.
Nsubuga has been appointed First Referee, with Sengendo as Second Referee, for the Mozambique versus Mauritania qualifier slated for 8 February 2026 at the Pavilhão da Liga in Maputo. The duo will also take part in the Tanzania versus Côte d’Ivoire encounter on 3 February 2026 at the Amani Indoor Stadium in Zanzibar, where Nsubuga will serve as Third Referee while Sengendo has been named Reserve Assistant Referee.
These appointments mark another step forward in the referees’ steadily advancing continental careers, as they have become familiar names on CAF futsal assignments in recent seasons.
Their breakthrough came in 2024 when they were jointly selected to officiate the CAF Futsal AFCON Qualifier between Namibia and Tanzania in Windhoek. The high-stakes match represented one of Uganda’s earliest recent appearances in elite continental futsal officiating and paved the way for subsequent CAF trust.
In 2025, Brian Nsubuga Emmy further enhanced his credentials after being chosen among 30 match officials from 12 African nations to officiate at the Futsal Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. A FIFA-certified futsal referee, Nsubuga worked as an assistant referee at the tournament, which also served as a qualifier for the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup in the Philippines.
Alongside their international duties, both referees remain actively involved in Uganda’s domestic futsal scene, officiating in the Futsal Super League and supporting the growth of refereeing standards nationwide.
