Six-time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC host Soltilo Bright Stars FC on Saturday evening at Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wakulukuku as they seek a first win of the 2020 season.
The Wakulukuku based side drew their first league game, 1-all, with Onduparaka FC last week at the Greenlight Stadium, Arua.
Frank Kalanda found the back for the Red Eagles off a penalty mark after he was brought down by Mahad Ajobe in the forbidden area, but they finished the game with 10-men after skipper Enock Walusimbi was sent off for handling the ball to deny the hosts a clear goalscoring opportunity, a penalty from which resulted in the equaliser.
Therefore, Walusimbi will miss Saturday’s game as he serves his second of a three-match suspension he received for a direct send-off.
“We shall miss the services of our skipper Walusimbi, but, we recruited enough players and we have confidence in the replacements available,” Wasswa Bbosa said in a prematch press conference.
Wasswa Bbossa will also be without Mahad Kakooza Yaya who is still nursing patellofemoral joint on the right leg while Ibrahim Kayiwa will need a late fitness test to feature.
Meanwhile, Soltilo Bright Stars will be looking for their first win of this season having collected just a point from their opening games (losing to KCCA 2-1 at home before travelling to Ndejje to draw goalless with URA FC).
Baker Mbowa will hope talisman Joseph Janjali can rejuvenate his form from last season in order to propel the Mwererwe based side to their first win.
Express and Bright Stars have met four times in the league, with both sides winning once and other two ending in draws.
The last encounter at Wakulukuku between the two sides ended 1-all draw with Joseph Janjali cancelling out Frank Ssenyondo’s opening strike.
