Express announce Isabirye as new head coach ahead of Kampala derby

Express FC has appointed Alex Isabirye as the new Head Coach, replacing James Odoch, who was relieved of his duties following a 4 game winless streak which included two draws and losses. Odoch’s tenure ended with a one all draw against table leaders BUL FC.

Isabirye, fresh from a successful season with SC Vipers, where he clinched a league and cup double last season, after taking charge following the departure of the Brazilian, Bento Bianch.

Isabirye who joined Express from Nile in 1999 as a player and joined SC Villa in 2000 returns to Express as head coach with some knowledge about the club history and what it means to the Wankulukuku based side’s loyal fans.

Express’ decision comes on the heels of naming legendary striker Hassan Mubiru as the interim head coach just a day earlier.

Mubiru, a celebrated striker in Ugandan football will continue waiting for his touchline tenure since he can’t stand as interim because he holds a CAF C coaching linsence.

Express faces a crucial test on Friday against bitter rivals and record champions SC Villa at the Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku, the shared home ground which adds an extra layer of intensity to the clash.
