Striker Musa Esenu netted twice as BUL FC held on to overcome SC Villa 2-1 in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played on Tuesday.
This was a rescheduled game that was postponed early on in the season.
With 23 minutes on the clock, Esenu broke the deadlock after he rose high to head past Meddie Kibirige into the back of the net after a well driven Hillary Onek cross.
Moments later, SC Villa were reduced to 10-men after youngster Oscar Mawa was sent off by Referee Mashood Ssali for a reckless tackle on Aggrey Madoi.
Before the break, Esenu doubled his side’s lead with a well taken strike with a right foot, giving Kibirige no chance of stopping it.
Although Villa had a numerical disadvantage, they played well in the second stanza and got rewarded in the 83rd minute with Substitute Isaac Ogwang slotting past BUL goalie Saidi Keni after being put through by Kenneth Ssemakula.
In the later exchanges of the game, BUL held on to pick the much needed victory to move into third place on the log with 13 points.
Meanwhile, SC Villa are 13th on the log with only 4 points. They play Onduparaka next.
