Emirates Invitational 7s: Uganda loses three, faces France in quarters


Uganda Rugby Cranes finished bottom of their Blue group after losing three from as many games on the opening day of the Emirates Invitational 7s second tournament.

The team lost 28-10 in the opener against rivals Kenya despite Desire Ayera and Adrian Kasita scoring a try each in the losing effort.

Simon Okia netted Uganda’s only try in the second game as Uganda lost Spain 26-07.

The last game was closely contested and it was against Canada but Uganda still lost 24-21. Phillip Wokorach, Solomon Okia and Aaron Ofoywroth touched down each once, while Wokorach made a conversion.

Uganda finished bottom of the Blue Pool with three points, a group that was topped by Kenya.

Consequently, Uganda will face France in the quarter-finals. France topped Red Pool, having beaten Chile, Argentina and Japan.

Uganda finished seventh in the first tournament last weekend after beating Spain 24-19 in the placement game.
