Diaspora: previewing how Ugandan players abroad will get to fare this weekend


Sports was cleared to be back in Uganda under the guidelines of the Ministry Of Health earlier this week and the Uganda cranes coach Jonathan Mckinstry announced a training camp for the national team in Dubai next month. As we come to the end of September, all Ugandan players abroad will be in hunt for playing time at their parent club so as to secure a national team call for the coming international break.

As always, The Touchline Sport’s Edwin Waiswa takes you through how Ugandan players abroad are set to fare for their respective teams over the weekend.

In Tanzania, Boban Zirintusa is expected to be back in action as Mtibwa Sugar FC takes on Young Africans on Sunday evening in the Tanzanian Premier league.

Nicolas Wadada’s Azam FC will travel away from home to take on Tanzania Prisons on Saturday at 4pm.

In Egypt, Ugandan forward Derrick Nsibambi, who featured in his side Smouha nil-nil draw against Wadi degla yesterday as a second half substitute is expected to gain more playing time on Monday when they take on Haras El Hodoud at 4pm.

Having featured as a right back in El Gouna’s win against Aswan SC, Allan Kyambadde is expected to occupy the same position as they visit Zamalek on Sunday evening at the Cairo International Stadium.

Meanwhile, Khalid Aucho’s Misr Lel Makkasa will be in action today as they host Al Mokawloon at 6:30pm. El Makkasa will also be in action on Tuesday evening when they take on EPNNI SC.

Abdul Lumala is still out with a Knee injury so he will miss Pyramids game against Al Ittihad on Tuesday evening.

In Turkey, Farouk Miya will hope to inspire Konyaspor to their first win of the season as they take on Beskitas FC in the match day two of the Turkish Super Ligue on Sunday at 4pm.

In Czech Republic, Isaac Muleme, who started in center back in his side’s first loss of the season last weekend is expected to return to left back as his side, Viktoria Zizkov seeks to return to winning ways against Blansko FK on Sunday evening in the Czech National Football league.

In Estonia, Edrisa Lubega is expected to be back in action as his Paide Linnameskond side takes on Tallinna Kalev in the Estonian Meistriliiga on Saturday evening. Lubega missed the team’s last league outing.

In Sweden, Ronald Mukiibi and Isak Sewankambo will be in action for Ostersunds FK as they battle out with Helsingborg in the Swedish Allsvensken game at Olympia stadium on Sunday evening.

Alexxis Bakka is also expected to feature for Umea FC as they take on AFC Eskilstuna in the Swedish Superettan game on Sunday evening. 

Ritah Kivumbi will be in action with her side, Mallbacken IF as they play against Sunnana on Sunday evening in the Swedish Elitetan.

Patrick Mulyanti will face a late fitness test in order to take part in IFK Amal division two game against Ahlafors IF on Saturday evening.

Tito Nehema will hope to continue his expedition with Strömsbergs IF 2 when they take on Torpedo Kamr in their final game of Division 7 Uppland Norra season. Stromberg IF sit comfortably top of the 10-team table on 22 points.

In France, Dereck Kuteesa’s Reims FC  who were eliminated from the Europa league on Thursday evening by Fehervar FC in penalties, will be back in action on Sunday evening, this time in French Ligue 1, as they host defending champions PSG.

In Scotland, defender Bevis Mugabi is expected to be to back in the squad as his Motherwell FC side takes on Log leaders Rangers FC in the Scottish Premiership game on Sunday evening. Mugabi was out suspended in his side 3-0 loss to Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Europa league qualifiers.

In the Danish super league, Moses Opondo will be in action with his side, Odense BoldKlub as they take on Aarus Gymnastikforening (AGF) on Sunday evening.

Robert Kakeeto’s AaB Aalborg are expected to be back in action on Monday evening when they take on SonderjyskE Fodbold.

In England, Having made his debut in his side’s 5-0 humiliating result against Blackburn Rovers last weekend, Ulke Ikpeazu Mubiru is expected to get more playing time this weekend as his side, Wycombe Wanderers takes on Swansea City in the English Championship game on Saturday afternoon.

Elvis Bwomomo will also be in action with Southend as they take on Morecambe on Saturday evening in the English League Two.
