Diaspora: Mukwala nets brace as Odokonyero, Ikwaput and Wadri get a goal each – how Ugandan pros fared over the weekend


A couple of Ugandan professional footballer abroad got on target for their respective sides across the globe via the weekend.

Steven Mukwala got two while Fazila Ikwaput, Nathan Odokonyero and William Wadri had one each for their side.

This is how these and the rest of the Uganda professionals abroad fared over the weekend.

Starting off in England, Nathan Odokonyero scored his 20th goal of the season for Bognor Regis Town as they secured a 2-1 victory over Corinthians- Casuals in the Isthmian League.

In Scotland, Bevis Mugabi was still out injured for Motherwell as they lost 1-0 to St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.

Sadat Anaku was also out for Dundee United as they lost 2-0 to Celtics.

While Enock Walusimbi was an unused substitute for Peterhead FC as they lost 3-1 to Queens of the South in Scottish League One.

In Germany, Herbert Bockhorn featured fulltime for FC Magdeburg as they lost 3-2 to Dusseldorf in the 2.Bundesliga.

Still in Germany, Melvyn Lorezen featured for Wormatia Worms as they humiliated SSG Einhausen 10-0 in a friendly game.

In Spain, Ibrahim Juma made his debut for Leganes Juvenile as they lost 4-1 to Real Madrid B in Division de Honor.

In Israel, Timothy Awanyi was out for Ashdod SC as they drew 1-all with Kiryat Shmona in the Israeli Premiership.

In Czech Republic, Isaac Muleme was out for Viktoria Zizkov as they lost 3-0 to FC Vysocina in the Czech Republic National Football League.

In Turkey, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru was a second half substitute for Konyaspor as they lost 2-0 to Istanbul Basaksehir in the Turkish Super Ligue.

In Azerbaijan, Kizito Luwagga featured for an hour for Sabail SC as they lost 2-1 to Shamakhi in the Azerbaijan Premier League.

In Cyprus, Fazila Ikwaput was once again on target for Omonoia Women as they defeated Avis Ladies 2-1 in Cyprus First Division Women.

In Vietnam, Joseph Mpade featured for Hai Phong as they lost 2-0 to Hanoi in the Vietnamese Super Cup.

In Ghana, Steven Mukwala scored twice and helped Asante Kotoko defeat Kotoku Royals 5-1 in the Ghana Premier League.

In South Africa, Jamal Salim started in goal for Richards Bay as they drew 1-all with Amazulu in the DSTV Premiership.

Denis Onyango started in goal for Mamelodi Sundowns and kept a clean sheet as they defeated Sukhukhune 2-0 to record their 14 consecutive league victory.

While, Ismail Watenga started in goal for Marumo Gallants as they lost 2-0 to Orlando Pirates.

In Kenya, Willam Wadri scored a late controversial penalty for Bandari FC as they defeated Nairobi City FC 2-1 in the FKF Premier League.

While Deogracious Ojok featured for Tusker FC as they lost 3-0 to Kenyan Police.

In Rwanda, Nicholas Sebwato started in goal for Mukura Victory as they drew 1-1 with Musa Esenu’s Rayon Sports. Esenu also featured for Rayon.

Still in Rwanda, Erisa Ssekisambu and Muzamir Mutyaba featured for Kiyonvu Sport as they lost 3-2 to APR.

In Zambia, Kizito Keziron was on bench for Zesco United as they drew 1-all with Lumwana Radiants in the MTN Zambia Premier League

Hashim Ssempala was also on bench for Kabwe Warriors as they lost 1-0 to Red Arrows.
