Diaspora: league action returns after international break, plus how Ugandan pros fared over the weekend

League football action returned after a 10-days international break for most of the top tier leagues and we had Ugandan players in action with their respective teams abroad.

Farouk Miya was made it from the bench, while Onyango, Awanyi and Bayo did not make matchday squads for their respective teams. Mugabi and Opondo remained unused – here’s how Ugandan pros abroad fared with their respective sides.

In Turkey, Farouk Miya was a second-half substitute as his Konyaspor side narrowly defeated Büyükşehir Belediye Erzurumspor 2-1 in a Turkish Süper Lig game on Sunday. Deni Milošević opened the scoring for Konyaspor in the 9th minutes before Manuel da Costa levelled matters moments later. Just before the halftime break, Abdülkerim Bardakci sealed Konyaspor’s win.

In England, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru started and featured 90 minutes as he helped his Wycombe Wanderers side secure a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers in the Skybet English Championship. Wycombe’s goal was scored by Fred Onyedinma just before halftime. Jordan Obita never made it to the matchday squad.

Wycombe still sits bottom of the log with 30 points garnered in 38 games.

In the English league two, Elvis Bwomono came on in the 74th minute for Jason Demetriou for Southend United as they lost 2-0 to Carlisle in the Football league two. Zanzala and Toure scored the Carlisle goals. Southend are sitting bottom with 35 points in 39 games.

In Scotland, Bevis Mugabi was an unused substitute as his side, Motherwell defeated Formartine United 5-0 in the Scottish Cup. Mugabi extended his contract last week.

In Denmark, Moses Opondo was an unused substitute for Odense Boldkub as they drew 1-all with Horsens away from home in the Danish Superliga playoff phase. Louka Prip netted for Horsens in the first half before his goal was cancelled out by Issam Jebali at almost the death of the game.

Odense sits top of the relegation group with 29 points in 26 games and will play Vejle BK next on Friday.

In Czech Republic, Edirisa Lubega started and featured for 57 minutes as his side Příbram played out to a goal less statement with Mladá Boleslav in the Czech  First league. Pribram sits bottom of the 18-team log after 25 games with just 14 points.

Still in Czech Republic, Isaac Muleme started and featured for 75 minutes as his side, Viktoria Zizkov suffered a 4-2 loss to log leaders Hradec Králové in the Czech National Football league. Viktoria Zizkov sit seventh on the log with 22 points garnered in 16 games and will play Blansko next.

In Israel, Both Fahad Bayo and Timothy Denis Awanyi didn’t make it to the matchday squad as their side, Ashdod SC drew 1-all with H. Kiryat Shmona in the Israeli Premier League. Muhamad Shaker broke the deadlock for the Happoel side but in the 63rd minute, Abdul Mugees Zakaria levelled matters. Ashdod sit third on the log with 44 points in 27 games.

In South Africa, Ismail Watenga was an unused substitute for Chippa United as they suffered an humiliating 5-1 loss to Maritzburg United in the Dstv Premiership.

In the CAF champions league, Denis Onyango never made the matchday squad as Mamelodi Sundowns and Jamal Salim Mangoola’s Al Hilal Omardum played out to a goalless stalemate on Friday. Mamelodi Sundowns are already past the group stages having garnered 13 points in 5 games while Al Hilal are third on the log with 4 points and will need to win their last group game to progress to the knockout phrase.

In the same group sits Joseph Ochaya’s TP Mazembe who lost 2-0 to CR Belouizdad on Friday. Ochaya didn’t make it to the Matchday squad.

Taddeo Lwanga started and featured full-time as his side, Simba SC humbled AS Vita 4-1 in Tanzania. Simba comfortably sits top of the group with 13 points in 5 games played.

Saidi Kyeyune was still out as his side, Al- Merrikh drew 2-all with Al Ahly in the CAF champions league game in Sudan.

In Vietnam, Moses Oloya started and played full-time as his side, Hanoi FC suffered a 2-0 defeat to SHB-Đà Nẵng in the Vietnam league 1.

Still, in the V. League 1, Godfrey Kizito Baba started for Than Quang Ninh and helped them secure a 1-0 win over Becamex Bình Dương to go second on the log with 15 points in seven games.
