The 2026 Cricket Uganda Women’s T20 National League is set to commence this weekend with a revamped structure designed to enhance competition and fast-track player development across the country.
In a major change from previous editions, the league will now be staged in two divisions, determined by team standings from last season’s Women’s T20 competition.
Division One
- Soroti City
- Olila CC
- Jinja SSS
- Tornado Bees
- Wanderers
Division Two
- JACC
- Pioneer
- ACC
- Tornado
- Nile
The revised format is expected to create more balanced contests, with promotion and relegation adding greater intensity and importance to every match.

CU Women’s National League Opening Fixtures – June 13
Olila CC vs Jinja SSS – Jinja Oval
Defending champions Olila CC begin their title defence with an away fixture against Jinja SSS in Jinja.
The two sides faced off twice in the 2025 Lyca Women’s T20 season, with Olila CC winning both encounters. In the first meeting, Olila posted 83/8 before bowling out Jinja SSS for 45/9 to claim a 38-run victory. The return fixture was closer, but Olila held their nerve to defend 75/9 and win by 13 runs after restricting Jinja SSS to 62/8.
Having completed a season double over their opponents, Olila CC head into the fixture with confidence, while Jinja SSS will be aiming to reverse last season’s results.
Soroti City vs Wanderers – Florida Oval
Soroti City and Wanderers renew their rivalry at Florida Oval in what promises to be a competitive Division One encounter.
Soroti City were dominant in both meetings during the 2025 season. In the first game, they bowled out Wanderers for 62 before cruising to a nine-wicket win. The second fixture was even more one-sided, with Soroti City registering a commanding 115-run victory.
Soroti City retain a largely unchanged squad from last season’s successful campaign, while Wanderers will miss former captain and leading batter Naomi Kayondo Bagenda, who has stepped away from playing cricket to pursue umpiring. Her departure leaves a notable gap in the team’s batting strength.
Mwanjya Highlights Importance of New Structure
Cricket Uganda Operations Officer Joshua Mwanjya says the new format is aimed at increasing competitiveness and strengthening player development pathways.
“We have 10 clubs registered for this year’s competition and the introduction of two divisions will create more competitive cricket because teams will be playing against opponents of a similar standard. The bottom two teams in Division One will be relegated while the top two in Division Two will be promoted.
The Women’s League remains a key platform for player development, talent identification, and strengthening the pathway to the national team. Most of the players are between 16 and 19 years old, making this competition very important for their growth.
The two-division system allows players to compete at the right level, improve, and fight for promotion. The winners of Division One will receive UGX 2 million, while Division Two champions will earn UGX 1 million, which greatly supports the clubs.”
Mwanjya further noted that around 60% of participants are students, adding that Cricket Uganda worked closely with schools during fixture planning to avoid academic clashes.
Matches will be staged at Lugogo, Entebbe, Jinja, and Florida, with only one national team engagement scheduled during the competition period.
He concluded by encouraging fans to turn up in large numbers and support the teams as the country’s top female cricketers compete for league honors.
