Amidst a vision to elevate cricket in the Mukono area, encompassing districts like Kayunga, Buikwe, and Mukono, coaching activities have resumed.
Previously, trainees gathered at either the Mukono District Headquarters playground or Takajunge Sports Ground during the holidays. However, with most trainees returning to their schools, the community has initiated sending coaches to train them on-site.
Participating schools in the resumed training include Mukono Kings, Hilton High School, St. Cornelius SS, St. Mary’s Namagunga, and Mukono Parents. Furthermore, training sessions at other schools are set to resume next week, adding to the momentum.
Chairman of the Mukono Cricket Community, Mr. Kintu Simon, highlighted the upcoming term’s busy schedule, with the anticipation of schools league matches for both girls and boys.
This will be followed by the schools cricket week, expecting widespread participation and a strong performance from the schools.
Simon also shared news of schools offering bursaries to students, a development aligned with the vision of the Mukono Cricket Community to facilitate education through cricket, signifying community transformation.
Moreover, there’s been a noticeable increase in the number of trainees at schools where training sessions have been conducted, signaling positive growth and continuity for the game.
The community is actively engaging in discussions with various schools to promote cricket and introduce the sport, aiming to expand activities to more schools in the area.
On the opening day of training at the Mukono District Headquarters playground, Coach Puwata Ronald, joined by Coach Lubwama Solomon, imparted valuable cricket knowledge and experience to the eager trainees.
This enthusiasm reverberated throughout the various schools, igniting anticipation for friendly matches between these community- Schools.
