Cranes continue to dominate CECAFA with a record 15th


The Uganda cranes defeated Eritrea 3-0 in the finals of the CECAFA senior challenge cup to clinch a record 15th title of the championship.

Goals from Bright Anukani (32nd minute), Mustafa Kiiza (68th minute) and substitute Joel Madondo in the (88th minute) were enough to ensure the Crane’s seal the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup held in Kampala for over a period of 3-weeks.

The 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup becomes Irishman and 34-year-old Cranes coach Johnny McKinstry’s first in his coaching career.

Uganda also scooped the Fair play award while custodian Charles Lukwago was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Kenya’s Oscar Wamalwa emerged as the top scorer of the tournament with three goals.

Robel Teklemicheal of Eritrea was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Tournament for his outstanding display throughout the competition, guiding the Red Sea Camels to their very first final of the tournament.

Kenya clinched third-place after defeating rivals Tanzania 2-1 in the playoff that was played before the final.
