Silverbacks handed bye at the 2021 FIBA AfroBasket Qualificational round

Uganda’s Silverbacks have been handed a bye at the first round of the 2020 FIBA Afrobasket Qualifiers.

The Silverbacks who made their second Afrobasket appearance in Tunisia in 2017, will feature at the qualification campaign from the second phase of games after being ranked amongst the best 15 sides in Africa.

The 15 teams that took part in the 2017 FIBA Afrobasket tourney in Senegal and Tunisia will be joined by 5 top sides that will make it past the first qualification phase to make 20 teams at the second phase.

At the second phase, the 20 teams will be divided into 5 groups were each will compete in 2 compettive tournaments in  3 international windows next year.

In Febuary 2021, the 20 sides will then battle out in the final qualifying round where the top 3 from each group will automatically qualify for the FIBA Afrobasket 2021 in Rwanda.
