CECAFA Kagame Cup: Express storm semis after convincing victory over Young Africans


Uganda Premier League champions Express FC have reached the semifinals of the 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup after they convincingly defeated Tanzania’s Giants Young Africans.

Geoffrey Lwesibawa, Muzamir Mutyaba and Eric Kambale were on target as the Red Eagles secured a 3-1 win to finish atop of Group A with seven points.

Lwesibwa netted the opener with a sublime strike into the roof in the net in the 14th minute.

Mutyaba put in the second in the 35th minute after nice play by Martin Kizza who cut inside from the flanks to set up the former KCCA Midfielder.

The game went into the break with the Ugandan Champions holding a convincing 2-0 lead.

The third came in the 52nd minute after Lwesibawa turned provider to Kambale who headed home his second goal of the tournament.

Young Africans pulled a goal back late in the game through Paulo Godfrey,  who beat Joel Mutakubwa with a long range strike.

With the win, Express will face the runners up in Group B in the semifinals on Tuesday.
