Vipers SC head coach Fred Kajoba is backing his players to do their best in today’s CAF champions league preliminary round encounter with Sudanese Al Hilal Omdurman.
The venoms who will face Al Hilal today will need to produce their A-game in order to progress to the next round of the CAF champions league, having lost their first leg fixture 1-0 at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
However, basing on their training in the last few days, Kajoba is confident his players will be at their best to eliminate the Sudanese giants.
“We have been training well since the end of the first leg. We reviewed the mishaps and we are confident everything will be put right,” Kajoba told the Vipers website before adding;
“Of course the opponents will be confident as they’re at home and after their first-round heroics. But we are equally focused and we will play according to our game plan.”
“I am backing my players to do their best. They know what we are required to do. We have no time for excuses but have the belief that we are going to put up a spirited performance.”
Vipers’ preparations were dealt a huge blow after 6 of their senior players tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday morning and consequently didn’t travel with the team to Sudan.
The players that tested positive included; club captain Halid Lwaliwa, Godfrey Wasswa, Karim Watambala, Livingstone Mulondo, and Abraham Ndugwa.
However, Kajoba will be boosted by the return of Aziz Kayondo, Najib Yiga, Bobosi Byaruhanga, and Joseph Lujang Dhata who missed the first leg due to their engagements in the CECAFA U20 AFCON qualifiers.
