Big league: Katwe United run riot against Kataka, MYDA dream continues

Katwe United put 4 goals past Mbale Based side Kataka FC on Tuesday evening at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo when the FUFA Big league kicked off for the second round.

The Kampala based side  collected their second win of the season after enduring a 7 game winless run since they beat Light SS on the opening day of the league.

Despite missing experienced talisman Tony Odur, Katwe went ahead in the 24th minute after Solomon Wafula pounced on loose ball after Ronald Kikonyonko’s effort hit the upright.

3 minutes after halftime,  Defender Habibu Kavuma doubled the lead for Katwe from the penalty spot after Kataka’s Emma Otem handled the ball in the forbidden area.

In the 53rd minute, Forward Allan Tebusweke  added the third for Katwe United after brilliant setup by Substitute Billy Nkata before he completed his double in the 65th minute after poor defending by Kataka’s Mukamba Filbert to hand Katwe United a 4-0 lead.

Francis odando  scored a late consolation for Kataka FC but it was enough to pile pressure on Katwe United

The win moves Katwe United to 8th position on log having garnered 8 points in 9 games while Kataka are 7th with 10 points.

Elsewhere, Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) humbled Bukedea Town Council FC 4-0 at the Elgon View playground.

Nsimbe Ibra scored a second half hat trick to propel the Tororo side  to their 6th win of the season and extend the lead at the top to 6 points.

MYDA sit top with 19points in 9 games while Bukedea remain 3rd on 12 points
