Betways Kobs stun Heathen to lift Uganda Cup title

0

Betway Kobs made a last minute try against Hima Cement Heathens to lift the 2019 Uganda cup title.

Hima Heathens drew first blood through Experienced Scot Oluch’s hardfought try to give his side the 5-0 lead. Oyet Joseph had failed to covert the resulting conversion on the other side.

Justin Kimono’s unstoppable run gifted the Kobs their first try of the game to tie the scores at 5-5.

Before the first half could come to an end, Oyet Joseph scored a well taken penalty to put Hima Heathens back into the lead.

When the teams came back for the second stanza, Oyet Joseph scored his second penalty of the game to stretch Heathens lead to 6 points.

Betway Kob’s Ivan Kirabo converted his penalty kick to reduce Heathen’s lead to only 3 points with only 10 minutes to go.

Moments later, Oyet Joseph was still at the heart of things as he put in another penalty kick to put the scores at 8-14.

The game then had a dramatic ending in the last minutes as Betway Kobs camped in Heathen’s half and Ivan Kirabo made a try in quick succession to put Betway Kobs on 13 points.

Kirabo again converted the resulting conversion to propel the Kobs into a late 15-14 lead at the death of the game.

Muhammad Athio was left stunned by his side’s poor defending in the last 10 minutes

Betway Kobs are now 8-time Uganda Cup champions having defended the title that they won last season While Hima Heathens still stand on 11 titles.

In the shield cup, Impish beat Rams 14-13 in the finals to win the title.
