All is set for Express FC’s scientific coronation

The coronation ceremony of Startimes Uganda Premier League Champions Express FC will finally take place on Tuesday this week at StarTimes offices located at Soliz House, Nakasero.

The coronation event which was scheduled to take place on Thursday last week was pushed to this week to allow for the arrival of StarTimes’ dignitaries who were not in the country at the time of asking.

As plans for the event that will be broadcast live on Sanyuka TV and NBS Television at 1oam continue, here’s a brief of what we expect to take place.

The organisers, StarTimes are expecting twenty dignitaries from the different stakeholders with five from the (FUFA), Four from the Champions Express FC.

At press-time, FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo, spokesperson, Ahmed Hussein, Deputy CEO in charge of Football, Decolas Kiiza, Federation CEO, Edgar Watson were expected to grace the event, while the Attorney General and Express FC Chairman, Kiryowa Kiwanuka, Club CEO, Isaac Mwesigwa, Captain Enock Walusimbi and Club coach, Wasswa Bbosa to represent the club.

StarTimes CEO, Franklin Wang and Broadcasters, Sanyuka TV’s General Manager, Joseph Kigozi will grace the event.

“We expect the event to be done in less than two hours. Guests arrival is planned for 9 am while the occasion will start at exactly 10 am,” confirmed StarTimes Marketing manager, Ismail Lule.

This is the seventh time Express FC are being crowned champions of the Uganda Premier League having finished top of the 2020/21 season standings by the time the competition was ended with four/three games to the end.

The other times Express FC have won the Uganda Premier League were in 1974, 1975, 1993, 1995, 1996 and 2012/13.

The Red Eagles had endured a nine-year wait to win the championship, which also marked the second time the Uganda Premier League title is decided before climaxing due to the recent coronavirus pandemic.

Vipers won their fourth under the same circumstances last season with five games left to play.
