2023 Rugby Africa Sevens: Uganda Rugby team win bronze

0

Uganda Rugby Sevens Men’s team have secured bronze at the Rugby Africa Men’s 7s after a decisive 24-12 victory over the hosts Zimbabwe in Harare.

In the presence of Uganda State minister of sports Peter Ogwang and National Council of Sports Chairman Ambrose Tashobya, Zimbabwe who beat Uganda on Saturday in the group stage were this time outclassed thanks to the players efforts.

Uganda who had a bright day one started off the final day in fashion beating Zambia 29-15 to advance to the Semifinals thanks to tries from Pius Ogena, Ian Munyani, Adrian Kasito, Nobert Okeny(two tries) and a conversion from Philip Wokorach.

To a lot of Ugandan fans dismay, the Rugby cranes lost the Semifinal clash with South Africa 26-14 only to settle for third after humbling the hosts to it with the help of the fans from Kampala who have been loud enough since day one.

This victory helps the side to book their spot at the World Challenger Series and the next round of Olympic qualifiers with match up dates yet to be communicated.
